Iowans, especially in the western part of the state, have long been known for their beautiful beaches, but the California State Parks and Wildlife Commission has just launched a new “virginian beauty index” that will highlight the state’s unique beauty from coast to coast.
The index is a compilation of all the state parks, parks and preserves, including parks in the Pacific Northwest and a handful of others in the central part of California, that are rated at least “beautiful” by the US National Park Service.
It will be available to park visitors in all 50 states, as well as Canada.
“It’s really about the uniqueness and uniqueness of our state,” said Scott Cawthon, senior director of parks and recreation.
Cawthons office has been working to develop a more robust index, but he hopes that the one he and his team developed will be the most comprehensive yet.
“We were looking at a bunch of things,” he said.
“We looked at the parks in our state, the nature that we have here, the beauty of the landscape, the history of the place and the diversity of the people.”
What we didn’t look at was what is out there, and what’s the beauty in it, how does it inspire people to visit?
“We really wanted to do a little bit of a research, look at everything that we can and what we can tell you about our state.”
The index, which Cawdons office is developing alongside California Parks & Recreation, will be used as part of a wider “visual appreciation” campaign, which is part of an effort to help California’s growing population of tourists and tourists to experience the state as well.
Caws office said the index was inspired by the idea that it was “not only about what we see on our own beaches, it’s also about what people do on our beaches,” Caws office told ABC News.
“So it’s not just about seeing the beaches, we want to get a sense of what is in the state and how the landscape has evolved over the years.”
In California, the index will include beaches from the Pacific Ocean to the shores of Lake Tahoe.
In its first six months, the state park service has collected data from the public, state parks and state wildlife departments, parks in other states, and the California Department of Parks and Recreation.
Caws said that data will be included in the index, and will include data from visitors to the parks and sites that they visit.
Cavities, roads, and wildlife in the Golden StateThe index will be based on a mix of the data collected by Caws and other state agencies.
The parks and preserve data will include information on the number of people who visited the parks, the number who visited on the same day, and how many people visited in the first place.
